Reminder

Just a few reminders. Firstly, today is the last day to buy breast cancer shirts; we have a very large team however numbers seem to be down. The link will close tonight at midnight, this is a fundraiser for our team and the breast cancer society and we'd appreciate your assistance. We as the Montclair High School Cross Country Team are encouraging all athletes to buy/sell at least TWO of our Long Sleeve T-shirts for $20 each.  We will wear them throughout the month of October and would like the entire team, family and friends to wear them for the Essex County Championship Meet at Brookdale Park on October 26th.

Secondly, we will have our second invitational this weekend. Names of athletes competing and race times will be posted later this evening. As stated, if you are not at practice the day before a meet you will not be able to compete. This includes the invitational this weekend and if you are not at practice tomorrow you will not compete at Tuesday's meet.

Today's Meet

Montclair will not be attending today's meet, the weather looks to get worst as the day progresses so we as a staff have decided that it's in the athletes best interests. JV and Freshman athletes have the afternoon off and are advised to do the workout below. Get home, stay dry and make sure you get your school work done. 

Warm up: Jumping Jacks for 1 minute then hold a 1 minute plank. Rest for 30 seconds and repeat five times

2 mins rest

Workout: 1 min high knees, 1 min jumping jacks, 1 min squats, 1 min pushups, 1 min lunges, 1 min crunches, 1 min rest. Repeat 8 times

Abs: 25 bicycle crunches, 20 reverse crunches, 1 minute plank (30 sec elbows/30 sec hands). Rest and repeat 6 times.

Varsity athletes meet at woodman field immediately after school.

Please keep an eye on the blog, facebook and twitter through the day for updates in regards to any changes that might occur throughout the day. However, as of now the meet today is still on. The bus will be leaving from Midland ave at 2:45

Frosh/Mixed 2 mile: 4pm
Varsity Girls: 4:30 (MKA & Nutley)
Varsity Boys: 5:15 (Columbia & Millburn)

Anyone who is not running in the varsity races will run the two mile today.

Reminder; there is no practice today. All athletes have been giving their assigned workout. Make sure you complete and enjoy your weekend.

Race Schedule

We have our third meet at Branch Brook Park this afternoon. The bus will be leaving from Midland ave at 2:45pm please be there on time so we can pull of at 2:45. The freshman/mixed 2 mile will go off at 4pm Varsity boys (Newark Academy, West Orange & Verona) will race at 5:15 and Varsity girls (Verona & Millburn) will race at 5:30 followed by the JV 5k and 5:45. Also, just a reminder for parents we will be having our parent meeting/social tomorrow night from 7-9.

Tomorrow we will be meeting for practice at 9am. If you are observing the holiday you have an excused absence. Also, in regards to spike night we understand it is on the evening of Yom Kippur, it was the only night we could get that worked with their schedule. However, in no way will athletes be penalized if they cannot attend. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but discounts are available from fleet feet throughout the season due to our relationship with the store.

Update 9/18

There will be no practice today for the freshman and JV groups today. Take the time to rest and catch up on school. Varsity/lifting group will meet directly after school at woodman field. All groups will resume on Wednesday, 9am at woodman. Tomorrow night fleet feet will be hosting spike night for the cross country season from 5:30-8pm. It is a night where you can get trainers, spikes and training clothes (especially layers) for your athletes and receive 20% off.

 Also, Breast Cancer Awareness Month shirts are still on sale. We as the Montclair High School Cross Country Team are encouraging all athletes to buy/sell at least TWO of our Long Sleeve T-shirts for $20 each.  We will wear them throughout the month of October and would like the entire team, family and friends to wear them for the Essex County Championship Meet at Brookdale Park on October 26th. Orders are due by THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 27. A percent of the monies raised will be donated to the Montclair High School Breast Cancer Awareness Club.
